Happy Mother’s Day from the Creston Valley Farmers’ Market!

Though we really should be celebrating the mother figures in our lives 24/7 and 365 days of the year, May 12 is one day you are really not going to want to forget about. If you have left things until the last minute, don’t fret – the market has you covered!

Is she an art enthusiast? With a wide variety of fifteen artisans at this Saturday’s market, you’ll have no trouble finding a piece that suits her taste. Orde Creek Pottery has some gorgeous new wood fired vases and mugs to choose from or check out Elissa June Studio for a wide assortment of handcrafted jewelry and artwork.

Does she have a green thumb?  Green Starts Growers will be back for their first market of 2019 with a variety of bedding plants and veggie starters. E. Rock Woodworking and Planters & More will be selling handcrafted planter boxes (some look like mini replicas of the grain elevators!). Pick up an assortment of these little sprouts and spend the afternoon in the garden together.

…However, your mom shouldn’t have to work too hard on Mother’s Day! If you haven’t already tried it, we highly recommend grabbing a bottle of William Tell’s Pink Sunday Sparkling Rose. Perfectly paired so well with their peach spread and a little brie cheese on a charcuterie board.

Of course you are cooking her dinner tonight, but what about a colourful, handcrafted apron from Aprons With Pizzaz? Speaking of dinner, make sure you grab some farm fresh food from over 17 local producers! For dessert, check out the cupcakes at Gluten Free Guilt, or a decadent treat from Omi’s Brittle. And to finish things off, how about a cherry liqueur from Wynndel Craft Distilleries.

My Mother Kept a Garden – Author Unknown

My Mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
that gave my life it’s start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem…
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I’d need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother’s garden.
I am her legacy-
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me

Whether you visit the market this weekend to pick up a last minute gift for the mother figure in your life, or just to simply spend a quiet morning together, we wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day! Be sure to enter to win a gorgeous bouquet put together by Brittany’s Flower Farm.
