Hi Folks!

A big thank you to all those who joined us up at the 100th Fall Fair last weekend. It was such a blast setting up the market outside the Rec Centre surrounded by the limitless festivities of one of Creston’s longest running events. Can you imagine what the Farmers’ Market will look like at it’s hundredth anniversary?

For now, we will be moving back down to our usual location behind the Visitors Centre. Please make note that we will be reducing our hours from 10-1 for the remainder of the outdoor season. We will all get a bit of a sleep in for the next few weeks and fend off a bit of this colder weather!

Yes, let’s face it-the weather has been cooling off a bit, however, the rain is a welcome change and the smoke has finally cleared (for good, we hope!). The market is still hot with fresh produce and tons of artisan products.

We have seen plenty of tomatoes and peppers frequenting vendor stalls, with plenty more to come, meaning it is salsa season! We encourage you to call your vendor ahead of time to place an order to be picked up at the market. Find vendor listing and contact information under the vendor tab on our website.

Plums will also become more plentiful at the market, in addition to apples and squash. If you were not already aware, the Harvest Share program has a plethora of kitchen equipment available by donation to preserve this produce for the winter months. I’m thinking apple sauce, prunes, and apple chips! I’ll be posting a recipe for butternut squash “mac n’ cheese” next week, so stay tuned for that!

As always, Gluten Free Guilt will be on site with a wide variety of gluten free bread and baking products. Cookville Community Garden also has a huge range of breads and hands down the best cinnamon buns at the market.
