Almost a week has passed since these strange, smoky skies rolled into the Valley. If you were at the market last Saturday, it was shocking to see (or not see?) how fast we lost visibility from the time we started set-up at 7am to the time the last vendor was packed up. Goat Mountain seemed to disappear before our eyes! We are optimistic that most of the smoke will have cleared by this weekend so you can enjoy a safe and clear shopping trip to the market.

A total of 23 local vendors will be waiting for you behind the Visitor Centre off of Cook Street on September 19, from 9am-1pm. Before you enter the market, make sure you stop to say hello (and thank you!) to one of our lovely volunteers while you wash or sanitize your hands.

Keep your eyes out for our newest baker, Alexis from Alexis’ Artisan Breads. His product line-up sounds absolutely mouthwatering and I personally can’t wait to try one of his dairy-free croissants! In addition, Alexis offers homemade sourdough, baguettes, and pain au chocolates made with organic flour. We are thrilled to welcome Alexis to the market!

If a freshly baked croissant isn’t enough to lure you to the market, you don’t want to miss your last chance to snag an earful of corn from Sutcliffe Farms. Brett comes with a heaping truck full, so if you can grab a few extra cobs, I highly recommend trying Reede’s Fresh Corn Salsa recipe out in addition to freezing those precious kernels.

And just like that, with just a few stray corn husks left in their market stalls, we have to say goodbye to our wonderful corn vendors, Riehl Farms and Sutcliffe Farms. Until next season!
