We had SO much fun at last month’s Summer Solstice Market that we have decided to do it all over again (perhaps with a few less minutes of sunshine this time round). Hosting a night market was a whole new experience for the Creston Valley Farmers’ Market. Not only did we experiment with a new layout and location, we also introduced more hot food options, new vendors, and a mobile bar!

This will all be available and more tomorrow night, July 19 from 4pm-9pm at the Pealow’s Parking Lot. Building on positive feedback from last month, you will find us towards the front of the parking lot along Cook Street with additional seating and new vendors.

Dinner options for the evening will feature Creston’s favourite food truck, The Peppered Pig with serving up real good, local food! Their weekend special of Greek Pita & Lamb Kabobs will be made with locally sourced, pasture raised lamb marinated in the Tweeked Greek seasoning from Iron Skillet on top of KiMana Acres greens with walla walla onions from Wlokas and of course tomatoes, black olives and a house made Tzatziki or Sweet sauce on a tasty pita. YUM.

The Valley’s newest food truck the Chuckwagon will also be joining the fun and will be donating 100% of profits towards the Creston Valley Hospital. In fact, all profits generated by both market stall fees and the mobile bar, along with the donations of vendors and market-goers will be donated towards a new fetal heartrate monitor at the Creston Valley Hospital. Last month’s Summer Solstice Market was able to raise over $800 for this new piece of equipment! The Chuckwagon features summer classics such as burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and a seriously mouth-watering poutine.

With a last minute schedule change, we are so thrilled the Mama’s Dumplings from Cranbrook will also be able to join us for this fun evening. Although, if you aren’t able to make it to this Friday’s event, Coco has now teamed up with Brian Pealow and now offers frozen dumplings for purchase just inside the grocery store!

In addition to plenty of dinner options tomorrow night, you will also find an exciting variety of fresh and prepared foods all made, baked, or grown locally within the Kootenays. Just-a-Mere Organic Farm is joining us tomorrow night with locally grown, organic cherries. Ki Mana Acres will be at both markets this weekend with a macro-variety of micro greens! Lark Coffee Roasters and Kootenay Natural Meats are another couple die-hard vendors who will be attending both this Friday and Saturday’s markets (Check out the full list of vendors at the bottom of this post).

We sure hope to see you at both markets this weekend and thank you for your continued support of our local makers, bakers, and do-ers.
